Udaipur, the City of Lakes, was a big surprise in my trip around India. Finally a peaceful city and cleaner than the other cities I have been. India is really noisy and Udaipur is calm, with less traffic in the centre and not so many animals going around. Udaipur is located in Rajasthan and was founded by Udai Singh II close to Pichola lake. This artificial lake has fresh water and it is pretty clean with the famous island of Jag Niwas, where a luxury hotel called the Lake Palace is placed.
Udaipur has a City Palace which is very well conserved and a must in this city. The entrance is free for people with disability and I saw elevators which means is accessible for reduced mobility people. I also crashed my head against the roof because there are low roofs without any sign so may be not so accessible for visually impaired people, watch out! The visit was worth it, I saw many rooms with nice painted walls, the views are nice, the use of bright colours in India makes things beautiful.
It is very easy to find occidental food in Udaipur, shops with handmade products, yoga classes and many terraces with good views to the lake perfect to enjoy a cup of tea.
